Topic: WWI Soldier Equipment - Detailed Drawing

Instructions:

Step 1: Choose whether to draw a British or German WWI soldier.

Step 2: Research the equipment and uniform of your chosen soldier.

Step 3: Create a detailed drawing with labels and arrows pointing to each piece of equipment.

Step 4: Write key information about each piece of equipment.

Note: You can come back another time and draw the other army's soldier if you want!

Part 2: Equipment Research

Research the equipment your chosen soldier would carry. Take notes on each item:

Part 3: Additional Research Notes

Write any other important facts about your soldier's equipment, uniform differences by rank, or how equipment changed during the war:

Part 4: Your Drawing

Drawing Instructions:

You will draw your soldier on paper (A4 or larger recommended).

Your drawing must include:

A detailed soldier figure showing front or side view
Arrows pointing to EACH piece of equipment (at least 10 items)
Labels for each arrow naming the equipment
Brief notes next to each label explaining what it is and its purpose
Clear, neat presentation

Drawing Tips:

Start with a light pencil sketch of the soldier's body
Add equipment one piece at a time, checking your research
Use reference photos you find during research
Draw arrows pointing outward from equipment to labels
Write neatly - this is a historical diagram!
You can color it if you want to show uniform colors accurately

Part 5: Drawing Completion Checklist

When you've finished your drawing on paper, answer these questions: Which soldier did you draw? (British or German) How many pieces of equipment did you label on your drawing? What was the most interesting piece of equipment you learned about? What differences did you notice between British and German equipment during your research? What challenges did you face while drawing the soldier?
